The Anna Lindh Foundation has officially launched the 6th edition of the Mediterranean Journalist Award. The contest, which will run until 20 July 2012, is open to journalists from the 42 countries of the Union for the Mediterranean, who are invited to compete for cash prizes of €2,500. An international jury will preselect 15 finalists to be invited to attend the award ceremony due to take place in Berlin on 18 October 2012.
The award is organised in collaboration with COPEAM (the permanent conference of Mediterranean audiovisual operators), the European Commission and the Allianz Cultural Foundation. It rewards journalists from the written press, radio and television and new media, who through their work contribute to the promotion of diversity and intercultural dialogue and provide balanced and informed coverage of cultural issues in the region, ranging from minorities, migration, integration and identity to religion and cultural traditions.
