Mediterrenean Women’s Fund photography competition aims at emphasizing the artistic potential of our region. The 2011 edition ended on December 30 and, after close deliberations, the jury rendered its verdict. The theme, “The Women, Their Revolutions”, was meant to illustrate the diverse revolutionary forms (big and small) women may take to affirm their rights and create new horizons. The democratic struggle underway in Tunisia and Egypt naturally received considerable attention, but some of the 300 photographs received this year also came from Algeria, Cyprus, Croatia, Spain, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine and Portugal. The attached photo (edited by Hamideddine Bouali) won the annual competion.
