Workshop on Emergency planning

From 12 to 15 January 2015, at the “Centre d’Entente pour la forêt méditérranéenne” in Valabre (France), was held a workshop about methodologies on aspects of emergency planning: the mobilization of human, technical and material resources, ministerial coordination and communication with the public. There was also a special focus on how to integrate contingency planning in sustainable development policies. Twenty-four participants from eight Southern Mediterranean countries attended the workshop. This initiative was held in the framework of “PPRD South II”, a three-year programme which aims at raising national resilience of southern Mediterranean partner countries (targeted by the European Neighbourhood Policy – ENP) affected by a natural or man-made disaster. The programme want to spread skills about risk reduction (prevention, mitigation, public awareness) and preparedness (capacity building, contingency planning).
