Irregular migration: challenges, opportunities, rights and responsibilities discussed at EU project

The EU-funded Euromed Migration III project held a meeting on issues of irregular migration on 21-22 May 2014 in Malta under the theme “Challenges and opportunities; rights and responsibilities: a balanced approach”.
The meeting, attended by representatives of Southern Mediterranean Partner Countries, EU member states, the European Commission as well as a number of international actors and experts, aimed to provide a platform for Southern Partners and EU Member States in a spirit of partnership, to exchange and debate on measures to address irregular migration in this present “post Lampedusa tragedy” context, which saw the creation of the Task Force Mediterranean http://ec.europa.eu/dgs/home-affairs/what-is-new/news/news/docs/20131204_communication_on_the_work_of_the_task_force_mediterranean_en.pdf
