“The economic and social situation of women in the Euromed region”, a report by the EESC 1024 576 Euro Mediter

On the 22nd of October has been published by the European Economic and Social Committee the report “The economic and social situation of women in the Euromed region”, whose rapporteur was Grace Attard.

The aim of this report is:
• to present a realistic picture of the situation of women in the Euromed Region and the impact ofmthe developments since the Arab Spring;
• to take account of different perspectives of international institutions, the European Union, Civil Society and women’s organisations;
• to provide insight on the effectiveness of measures that were and are being taken at National, EU, Euromed and global level;
• to present recommendations to reverse the negative process to guarantee de jure and de facto equal rights for both women and men in the region.
